What we will and won't say.
Nootropics is a category with a credibility problem, most of it self-inflicted. Blends with impressive totals and unknowable amounts. Percentages from surveys of a few hundred customers, printed as though they were trials. Here is the standard we are holding ourselves to instead.
Named actives, published doses
Every ingredient appears on the label with its own amount. A "proprietary blend" is a way of telling you the total while hiding the split, and the split is the only part that determines whether a dose matches the literature. Where an active has a clinically studied source, we name that source — Ashwagandha KSM-66® in the ready-to-mix line, for instance — rather than listing the genus and hoping you assume the good version.
Mechanism, not promises
We describe what an ingredient is studied for. We do not tell you what it will do to you. Those are different sentences, and the gap between them is where most of this industry's marketing lives. FLOTE SMART is a supplement line — it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything, and any copy on this site that reads otherwise is a mistake we want reported to support@flotelabs.com.
What each pillar rests on
Focus & clarity
The actives most studied for attention and working memory, in formats you can actually take mid-day.
Studied actives: L-Theanine, Alpha-GPC, Lion's Mane, Bacopa Monnieri
Sustained energy
Energy that comes from metabolism and adaptogens as much as from stimulants — the aim is the absence of a crash, not a bigger peak.
Studied actives: Cordyceps, Rhodiola Rosea, B-vitamin complex, MCT oil
Stress resilience
Adaptogens with a long research history, for the days that ask more of you than usual.
Studied actives: Ashwagandha KSM-66®, Reishi, Chaga, L-Theanine
Evidence, tiered.
Four actives across the line carry the strongest human research in the category. What each is studied for, the protocol that evidence comes from, and — because they are not equal — how the four compare. Doses and durations are the literature's, not a label's.
L-Theanine + Caffeine
Gum & Mints
Calmer, more sustained attention than caffeine alone
Studied as a standard combination dose, not caffeine alone
The most-replicated pairing in nootropic research
Bacopa Monnieri
Beverage
Memory consolidation
300–450 mg/day over 12 weeks of consistent use
Strongest evidence base among natural botanicals for memory
Rhodiola Rosea
Beverage
Reduced mental fatigue, sustained attention under demanding tasks
Human trials at adaptogen-typical doses
Established adaptogen research base
Lion's Mane
Gum & Mints · Coffee
Nerve growth factor activity; cognition over sustained use
Emerging human research, sustained-use protocols
Promising, but earlier-stage than Bacopa or L-Theanine + caffeine
What evidence does not look like
- Proprietary "brain blends" that hide individual ingredient doses — you can't verify the dose matches the studied dose.
- Single-serving claims of dramatic, immediate cognitive gains — most evidence-backed botanicals need weeks of consistent use.
- Ingredients supported only by animal studies or traditional-use claims, with no human trials at the dose used.
- Marketing that blurs "focus" and "memory" into one effect — they're different cognitive functions with different evidence behind each.
Numbers we don't have yet
We have not run a consumer study, so there is no "82% felt sharper" on this site. We have no celebrity endorsements, so there are no headshots. When we have either, it will arrive with the methodology attached and a disclosure of the relationship. Until then the absence is the honest answer.
